Benedict's Solution – Reducing Sugar Test Reagent | GLASSWORLD South Africa
Benedict's Solution is a classic qualitative and semi-quantitative reagent used for the detection of reducing sugars in biological, food science, and clinical samples. Based on copper(II) sulphate in an alkaline sodium citrate and sodium carbonate matrix, Benedict's Solution produces a characteristic colour change from blue to green, yellow, orange, or brick-red precipitate in the presence of reducing sugars such as glucose, fructose, maltose, and lactose. GLASSWORLD supplies ready-to-use Benedict's Solution to laboratories, schools, and universities across South Africa and sub-Saharan Africa.
